Children of Bodom mastermind Alexi Laiho’s wife, Kelli Wright-Laiho, has shared photos of the private funeral service held in Alexi’s honor on January 28. Pictured are a photo of the invitation, written in Finnish, and one of Alexi’s casket surrounded by flowers. She also shared a photo from their wedding day in December, 2017. You can view all of those in the Instagram embeds below.
She posted the following caption along with the photos:
“Although Shelby and I were unable to be there physically on the 28th of January, we were still able to share this heartbreakingly beautiful day with Alexi’s closest.
“My perfect love,
your memory is sown in our hearts where it will stay forever, cherished and honored.”
Shortly after Alexi’s death, Wright-Laiho shared the following brief message:
“Thank you all so much for your beautiful energy and support. I’m taking time out to grieve our enormous loss with our immediate Finnish and Australian family. Understandably, as you are, we’re completely broken but wanted you to know, We love and appreciate you all so much.”
Laiho’s death was announced on January 4 of this year, although his family revealed he had died the previous week. He had suffered from long-term health issues and was only 41 years old.
