Luck: Jane Fonda joins Apple & Skydance’s fantasy animated film
Award-winning veteran actress Jane Fonda has officially signed on for one of the leading roles in Apple Studios and Skydance’s upcoming fantasy animated film titled Luck. This marks the two-time Oscar winner’s first animated feature after previously voicing a villain character on Disney Channel’s two animated series Elena and the Secret of Avalor and Elena of Avalor.
According to The Wrap, she is set to lend her voice to the character of The Dragon, who is being described as the exuberant CEO of the world of Good Luck and the luckiest ancient being in all the land. When bad luck starts to spin out of control in her world, she must face her fears or risk losing good luck forever.
Luck centers around the unluckiest girl alive who stumbles upon the never-before-seen world of good and bad luck and must join with magical creatures to uncover a force more powerful than even luck itself. The project hails from John Lasseter and Holly Edwards.
The film will be directed by Peggy Holmes from a screenplay written by Kiel Murray. The long-in-development project is currently set for a February 18, 2022 release.
Earlier this month, Apple Studios had successfully acquired the rights to two of Skydance’s upcoming animated films as part of an overall deal with the Apple TV+. Along with Luck, Apple had also acquired another fantasy film titled Spellbound which will feature music from Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken.
