Patricia Arquette & Ben Stiller reunite for Apple’s High Desert
After helping her land her second Golden Globe as well as her fourth Emmy nomination, Escape at Dannemora‘s Ben Stiller and Patricia Arquette are reuniting for a new Apple series entitled High Desert, according to Variety.
Written by Nancy Fichman, Katie Ford and Jennifer Hoppe, the half-hour comedy series will center on Peggy, a former addict who decides to start her life fresh after her beloved mother’s death in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California, where she makes the life-changing decision to become a private investigator.
In addition to writing, Fichman, Ford and Hoppe are set to executive produce the series alongside Arquette, who will star as Peggy, Molly Madden and Tom Lassally of 3 Arts Entertainment and Nicky Weinstock and Stiller via his Red Hour Films, with the Emmy winner also attached to direct the pilot for the project.
Stiller and Arquette most recently worked together on the acclaimed Showtime biographical limited series Escape at Dannemora, which netted the former two Emmy nominations and the latter a Golden Globe win and Emmy nomination, losing the Emmy to Michelle Williams for her turn in FX’s Fosse/Verdon, though would bring home the ceremony’s statue for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her role in Hulu’s The Act.
Along with High Desert, the duo are currently preparing to reunite at Apple for a new drama series Severance, in which Arquette will star in and executive produce and Stiller will direct and executive produce. Fichman and Hoppe are well-known in the small-screen world for their work on Nurse Jackie, Damages and Grace and Frankie whilst Ford is best-known for co-writing the original Miss Congeniality and the 2005 miniseries adaptation of Little House on the Prairie.
