The plot details of the HBO Max spin-off series are currently being kept under wraps at Warner Bros. TV. However, the report did note that it would continue to build on Davis’ appearance in the Peacemaker season finale, and could potentially include Danielle Brooks’ character in the series, Leota Adebayo, who is Waller’s daughter.

The spin-off series will reportedly be written by Christal Henry (Watchmen), who will also executive produce the series alongside The Suicide Squad writer-director and Peacemaker creator James Gunn, Davis, and Peter Safran, who was an executive producer on Peacemaker as well. Following the massive success of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, Gunn spoke about his desire to continue exploring the world, and with Peacemaker doing incredibly well for HBO Max — the season finale had the largest single-day audience for any HBO Max Original so far — it’s no surprise that the company is ready to dive back into the world of The Suicide Squad.

Davis first appeared as Amanda Waller in 2016’s Suicide Squad film, before reprising her role in 2021’s The Suicide Squad. Currently, she’s starring in Showtime’s The First Lady, and will also be starring in the upcoming film The Woman King, a role in which she’ll play Nanisca, the general of the Dahomey Amazons as they fight against enemies who enslave them and threaten their way of life.
