Keep it secret, keep it safe. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is coming to 4K UHD this year. The news was announced by none other than Sam Wise himself. Sean Astin took to the interwebs to share a video revealing the tremendous set.
The trilogy set comes with The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and Return of the King. This includes both their theatrical edition as well as their full extended 4 hours cuts.
Director, Peter Jackson oversaw the entire remastering process for the complete set. The 4K set costs a total of $90 and went on sale following Astin’s announcement. The pre-order has since been removed from Amazon, but word that the listing will return on October 13 as part of Amazon Prime Day is very likely.
If you recall, the extended editions of The Lord of The Rings were already released on DVD some time ago. Each came with some really cool collectibles. Now, the 4K edition is set to come with tons of all new special features and a replica of The One True Ring on a chain.
Both, The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy are releasing on December 1, just in time for the holidays at the starting price of the earlier mentioned $90.
What do you guys think? Will you be adding this to your Christmas list? Let us know in the comments section.
