We are here for musicians giving back. Whether nor not we like someone’s music, politics, or general attitude, we’ll always support them using their talent and influence to aid others. So though our readership likes to dunk on Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor quite a bit — and we understand this impulse, you know we do, better than anyone — we have to give him props for launching a non-profit foundation that’ll aid military members and first responders with PTSD.
Said Taylor in a video on Twitter (transcribed by Loudwire):
“I’m very excited to announce the launch of the Taylor Foundation as a nonprofit charity that is looking to raise money for organizations that help treat or uplift members of the military and members of the emergency services who are dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, otherwise known as PTSD.
“We’ll be partnering with pre-selected nonprofits at each tour stop who are actively providing meaningful and creative assistance to those affected by PTSD.”
Taylor’s kicking the whole thing off with a sweepstakes. Here’s what he’s offering:
“We’re giving you the chance to support us, and in return, one lucky fan will get to hang out with me in London this October. We’ll put you up in a hotel, give you two VIP passes to my sold out show at the world famous London Palladium.”
“Anyone who donates $50 or more automatically gets a signed poster by yours truly. All you have to do is Donate to Win…Thank you, and we will see you in London.”
The show, for the record, is October 17th, if you want to mark it on your calendar.
We think this is a good look. The members of our society who put themselves at risk the most deserve all the mental health aid they want or need. Good on Taylor for doing this.
You can donate to The Taylor Foundation via their Fandiem page.
