I want you to listen to both these unheralded proto stoner groups, Granicus and Highway Robbery. They released two underrated classics of hard hitting heavy psych rock in the early 70’s. In this video I discuss and review both.
Granicus was a proto hard rock band from Cleveland, OH. Formed in 1969, they released their eponymous debut album in 1973. Granicus played a very original mix of heavy rock, progressive and psychedelic rock and although critically acclaimed in certain rock circles the album didn’t gain traction nationally and band soon split up.
Highway Robbery was a proto hard rock band from the United States. Highway Robbery proved themselves adept musicians and songwriters with the arrival of their 1972 RCA Records debut, For Love or Money.
