Award-winning actress and iconic scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis has joined Eli Roth’s adaptation of Borderlands.

Based on the popular video game franchise, the film takes place in the future where four “Vault Hunters” land on the planet Pandora intent on find an alien vault rumored to hold advanced alien technology. According to Deadline, Curtis has signed on to play Tannis, an archaeologist living on the alien planet. The NPC plays an integral role in the games providing information and missions for the Vault Hunters.

The actress joins previously announced Cate Blanchett as the Vault Hunter, Lilith, and Kevin Hart who will play fan-favorite Roland.

Roth will direct the film, and screenwriter Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) wrote the most recent version of the script.

The film is produced under the Lionsgate banner alongside Avi and Ari Arad with Arad Productions and Erik Feig of Picturestart. Randy Pitchford, founder of Gearbox Entertainment Company and EP of the Borderlands game franchise will serve as an executive producer.

Borderlands first launched in 2009 and was followed by four DLCs and multiple sequels including Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. In addition, Telltale Games released the point-and-click follow-up Tales from the Borderlands in 2014.
