Jeff Loomis Starts Work on the New Arch Enemy Album “Very Soon” | MetalSucks

Work has commenced on the eleventh studio album from Swedish melodeath titans Arch Enemy.

This according to guitarist Jeff Loomis, who tells the Riffhard podcast that he will begin work on the album “very soon.” Although he also says he doesn’t know when the band’s next offering will be released, he does note that they have a tour of Europe tentatively scheduled for the fall, which would suggest the band had planned to put something out around then.

Of course, the pandemic could disrupt tour and album release plans, as it has for so many bands.

Loomis began by revealing that he continues to work on his new solo outing:

“It’s my third solo album for Century Media, it’s gonna be an all-instrumental thing. So really I’ve keeping busy doing that, doing guest solos for people. I’m actually writing a little bit of music for video games.”

He then went on to discuss Arch Enemy:

“I’m also doing solos for the new Arch Enemy album. I don’t even know when we’re going to release that yet, but I’m gonna start work on that very soon. We have a tentative tour coming up for September, if that happens. Let’s hope so.”

You can listen to the entire interview below.

Loomis made his recording debut with Arch Enemy on their last album, 2017’s Will to Power. His last full-length solo effort, Plains of Oblivion, was released in 2012.
