Metallica Set for The Late Show’s Post-Super Bowl Episode | MetalSucks

Metal Sucks

Despite a steady outcry from fans for years (and years… and years… and years), Metallica will not be part of this Sunday’s Super Bowl halftime show (that honor will go to The Weeknd).

This is close, though: they’re set to perform on A Late Show: Super Bowl Edition, a special live edition of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Other guests slated to appear include Robert Downey Jr. and Tiffany Haddish.

The episode will air on CBS — the same network broadcasting the Super Bowl — after the game ends. They have it slotted for 11:35 PM ET/8:35 PM PT, but that’s obviously subject to change.

Metallica have recently been working on new material, although drummer Lars Ulrich recently admitted that progress has moved at a “glacial” pace.
