Pantera Add 9 More European Dates to 2023 Shows

Metal Sucks

With every passing week, this Pantera tribute/reunion tour looks more like a full tour. Earlier today, the band added nine more European dates to their already-announced spring shows, bringing the total number of scheduled dates for late 2022 and 2023 to 20.

The Pantera shows have been a hot topic amongst musicians and fans since rumors of the shows began rumbling over the summer. Surviving members Rex Brown and Phil Anselmo will join up with guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante for what Anselmo says is a tribute to everything the Abbott brothers, Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, accomplished in their lives.

“I think it’s a beautiful thing. It’s like when we do the ‘Dimebash,’ it’s a celebration of Dime’s greatness. It’s a Pantera celebration — that’s what it is… You’re celebrating Vinnie and Dime’s greatness and you’re celebrating all the mountains that Pantera conquered and crushed.”

Despite concerns that he was under-rehearsed, Wylde has also assured fans that he is going to bring his A-game (and gear) for the tour.

“I’ve been working on it for a while now. I had to get a whammy pedal. I never owned one of those things. Grady [Champion, Dimebag Darrell guitar tech] will probably be running that thing, the guy who ran it for Dimebag. So, yeah, I’m a proud owner of a whammy pedal now. [Laughs] And I’ve got my Dime guitars, the ones that actually he gave me… I’ve got my rig.”

We are officially under 2 weeks away from Pantera’s first show under this configuration, so we won’t have to wait much longer to find out how it goes.
