Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix Remembers Getting “Verbally Assassinated” by Sharon Osbourne For Starting Ozzfest Riot | MetalSucks

Metal Sucks

From what we’ve gathered, fucking with Sharon Osbourne as a musician is like shooting BBs at a bull elephant — you’re going to get your skull crushed as a result, and she’ll never forget it. Case in point, Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix recently recalled a time when he started a riot onstage at Ozzfest 2001 — and got a severe chewing-out from Ozzy’s wife and manager.

Speaking to Metal Hammer, Shaddix was asked about the fallout of starting a riot at the New Jersey stop of Ozzfest 2001, in which, by his own admission, fans destroyed the venue at his beck and call. According to the frontman, Sharon was none too happy:

“She cursed me out. Rightfully she was pissed as fuck because the fans destroyed the venue, it was a fucking disaster. Slipknot and Ozzy still had to play and the place was in a shambles. I tried to leave in the trunk of a car, but they found out and I had to turn myself into the cops. Then I had to go sit with Sharon in the office and she just cursed me and I was just like, ‘I am so sorry, I will never do this again.’ I think if I’d just dealt with the cops and paid the money off, I’d have been like, ‘Fuck it, whatever.’ I would have carried on just numb-skulling. But I had this verbal assassination from Mrs Osbourne. Don’t fuck with Sharon.”

At the end of the day, Jacoby still has a career, so while Sharon might have given him the third degree, I think we all know that he got off easy. Sharon seems like someone who could straight-up decimate your entire life, and instead Jacoby got chewed out. If there’s anything to be thankful for, it’s that Sharon must have been having a good day.
