‘Ready or Not’ Actor Henry Czerny Joins the Cast of ‘Scream 6’

In the wake of 2020’s The Invisible Man, Universal is reportedly looking to reunite with Leigh Whannell (Upgrade) for The Green Hornet and Kato, a film Whannell is in talks to direct.

Deadline reports this afternoon that David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Stir of Echoes) wrote the script, and if Whannell officially signs on to direct the project will be fast-tracked.

With Whannell on board we can expect this one to deliver a fresh take and thrilling action sequences. That said, it’s a project we don’t expect to cover much here on Bloody Disgusting.

Then again, you never know. We might at least get a Saw Easter Egg to talk about!

The site reminds, “The Green Hornet was one of early radio’s most popular adventure shows (predating Superman), before being turned into 1940s movie serials (from Universal) and the 1966 TV series that introduced Bruce Lee (Kato) to the U.S.

“The classic story focuses on Britt Reid, owner-publisher of The Daily Sentinel. Armed with knowledge from his sources, cool weapons, a supercar known as the Black Beauty, and teamed with his trusty aide Kato, Reid became The Green Hornet, a vigilante crime fighter wanted by the police and feared by the criminal world.”

The characters were last seen on the big screen in the 2011 action-comedy The Green Hornet, a reimagining directed by Michel Gondry and starring Seth Rogen and Jay Chou.

George W. Trendle and Fran Striker created Green Hornet in 1936.
