The Infamous Lizzie Borden House is Officially on the Market

iHorror

People is reporting that the infamous Lizzie Borden House has officially been placed on the market. The site of the famous ax-murders has functioned as a bed and breakfast for numerous years and is selling for a cool $2 million.

The asking price might seem a bit steep, but because the owners are looking to retire completely, the sale price includes “business, trademarks, intellectual rights and property.”

The full property listing reads:

Lizzie Borden took an axe…or did she? Welcome to the ORIGINAL house where Lizzie Borden was accused (and acquitted) of the brutal double axe murders of her father, Andrew, and stepmother, Abby, that occured on that warm summer day of August 4th,1892. This is an unbelivable [sic] opportunity to own and operate one of New England’s top tourist attractions. Entertain visitors from all over the world. This is a turnkey operation, running lucrative day tours and evening events, and as a popular bed and breakfast destination. Picture yourself serving fun hatchet cookies, tiny johnny cakes and a scrumptious breakfast to overnight guests who have just enjoyed an experience of a lifetime! Owner’s retirement is your gain! Sale includes business, trademarks, intellectual rights, and property. Can also be purchased with the Victorian mansion, “Maplecroft”, where Lizzie lived the rest of her life after she was acquitted.

The Maplecroft property is currently listed at $890,000. It was bought in 2018 with the intent of turning it into a B&B, as well, but it reportedly ran into financial issues with Covid-19 travel restrictions.

Lizzie Borden’s murder trial just might be one of the most famous in our country’s history elevating Borden to pop-culture status with multiple films, tv series, and paranormal investigations diving into the events that took place that fateful day when her father and step-mother were murdered with an ax.

For the right buyer, the Lizzie Borden house could be one hell of an investment!
